A growing number of small and large companies are turning to prepaid cards for corporate expenses.
One of the most attractive reasons for this is the fact that companies do not have to issue credit cards with credit limit therefore reducing their exposure to potential fraud. One of the highest profile abuse of corporate credit cards was within the Metropolitan police force in the UK where a number of cardholders used their corporate credit cards to fund things such as personal holidays. If the people were issued with prepaid cards this fraud could not have been committed as the cards need to be pre funded and therefore this would have been flagged very early on saving this police force millions of pounds.
Expenses cards allow for tighter budgeting controls to be implemented, giving the cardholder the responsibility to gauge their float requirements in advance, and knowing what they have available to spend. Eagle Prepaid have added the benefit of being able to load additional funds in real time if a cardholder should get stuck somewhere and need additional funds fast.
Expenses cards can be denominated in multiple currencies for the global travelling work force. By issuing cards in the denomination of the destination there is never an issue when trying to calculate the FX whilst spending abroad.
Per Diem cards are becoming more main stream for companies that have employees travelling for a pre-defined length of time. One of our client recently had 100 people covering a sporting event and as such were away from home for up to a month, by allocating the daily expenses to a prepaid card, the employee could spend the money how he/she saw fit as there was no restrictions in place for this type of expense.
